See our Artist of the Month

Art classAll students in grades K through 8 receive regular  instruction in art.  The basics of line, color, shape, texture, value, and space are taught and built upon throughout the grades.  Students are given the opportunity to experiment in many different artistic media to learn these fundamentals of art.

In addition to regular art classes, middle school students have the option to take extra art electives each quarter.  Electives such as jewelry making, graphic design, drawing, sculpture art, cartoon club, and painting are just some of the choices available.

Art electives are also available to high school students. Choices include selections such as drawing, printmaking, sculpture, and ceramics.

High school students may also opt to work on the school yearbook and in doing so learn and develop skills in computer layout and design.

Each spring the school presents an Evening of Science and Arts which highlights artwork from all students as well as musical presentations and science fair projects .

CCS also participates in the annual ACSI fine arts festivals.  Both middle school and high school students may submit artwork to these adjudicated events.  Many CCS students have received high honors at the ACSI festivals from year to year.
